On the occasion of Gyan Bharatham, the Ministry of Culture organized an International Conference on the theme “Reclaiming India’s Knowledge Legacy through Manuscript Heritage” from 11th to 13th September 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The faculty and students of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, Kancheepuram, a constituent college of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), actively took part in this prestigious event.
While addressing the conference on 12th September 2025, held at the Lecture Hall of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, our Honorable Prime Minister highlighted that the Gyan Bharatham Mission is poised to become the voice of India’s culture, literature, and collective consciousness. He emphasized that India possesses the world’s largest collection of manuscripts—around one crore. Although crores of manuscripts were lost over the course of history, those that survived stand as a testimony to our ancestors’ deep commitment to knowledge, science, and learning.
He further noted that Gyan Bharatham will be implemented through a broad alliance of stakeholders, including libraries, religious institutions, and private custodians, ensuring manuscripts are preserved and made accessible for generations to come. Concluding his address, the Prime Minister remarked that Gyan Bharatham is a fruitful initiative that brings people together from across the country, serving as a platform for preserving India’s invaluable heritage.
This participation marked a proud moment for the faculty and students, offering them a deeper understanding of India’s manuscript heritage and its enduring significance in global knowledge traditions.
