Meenakshi College of Nursing NSS Unit Participates in “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” Special Health Screening Camp

The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing actively participated in the “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” Special Health Screening Camp held on 6th December 2025 at Iyyappanthangal. The camp was conducted from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with the objective of delivering comprehensive healthcare services directly to the community, particularly benefitting people in rural and underserved areas where access to specialized medical facilities is limited.

A total of sixteen nursing students from Meenakshi College of Nursing participated enthusiastically in the camp, extending support in various screening and assistance activities. The initiative focused on safeguarding public health and welfare, with priority given to individuals suffering from diabetes and hypertension, persons with mental health conditions, cardiac patients, pregnant and lactating mothers, children with special needs, differently-abled individuals, tribal populations, and socio-economically disadvantaged groups.

The camp offered a wide range of diagnostic and screening services, including blood investigations, ECG, ECHO, X-ray, scan facilities, and screening for tuberculosis, leprosy, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. The presence of Thiru M. Subramaniam, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, added significance to the program and underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening community healthcare delivery.

The students demonstrated commendable dedication and compassion while assisting healthcare professionals, gaining valuable hands-on experience and reinforcing their sense of social responsibility. In recognition of their active participation and cooperation, a Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to the college. Overall, the camp proved highly impactful, benefiting nearly 600 to 700 members of the public and reinforcing the importance of community-oriented health initiatives.
