Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy Conducts Hydrotherapy Training Program for Students

Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy, MAHER, organized a one-day Hydrotherapy Training Program for students on 16th March 2026 at Smashbounce Badminton Academy and Indoor Sports Arena, Valasaravakkam. The programme was conducted to provide students with practical exposure to hydrotherapy and its therapeutic applications in physiotherapy practice.

A total of 80 students participated in the training programme. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the role of water-based exercises in rehabilitation, particularly in improving joint mobility, muscle strength, balance, and overall functional performance.

To ensure effective learning and supervision, students were divided into batches for the practical sessions. The programme began with an introduction to hydrotherapy, covering its principles, indications, benefits, and clinical applications. This was followed by guided practical exposure in the pool setting.

During the hands-on sessions, students observed and experienced various hydrotherapy techniques and therapeutic exercises performed in water. The resource persons explained the clinical significance of water properties such as buoyancy, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure, and demonstrated how these properties can be utilized to facilitate rehabilitation and functional recovery.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Nishaa Bharathi M., Assistant Professor, Dr. Leka H., Assistant Professor, and Dr. Abhinaya B., Assistant Professor, who provided valuable insights and practical demonstrations throughout the session.

The training programme offered students valuable hands-on learning and a deeper understanding of hydrotherapy as an effective supportive treatment modality in physiotherapy. It significantly enhanced their practical knowledge and confidence in applying hydrotherapy techniques in clinical rehabilitation settings.

The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, during which students shared their experiences and clarified their doubts regarding the applications of hydrotherapy in physiotherapy practice.
