Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), MAHER, successfully organized the 3rd State-Level Yogasana Competition 2026 on 14th June 2026 as part of the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga. The competition was conducted under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” with the objective of encouraging the practice of yoga and promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being among people of all age groups.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with 780 participants from schools, colleges, yoga institutions, and the general public taking part in the competition. Participants showcased their yogic skills, discipline, and dedication through various competitive events designed to celebrate the essence of yoga and healthy living.
Competitions were conducted in both Common and Champion categories across different age groups, ranging from children to adults. Participants performed compulsory asanas as well as asanas of their own choice, which were evaluated by a panel of qualified judges based on technique, flexibility, balance, and overall performance. In addition, Artistic Yogasana and Rhythmic Yogasana competitions were organized in both single and pair categories, providing participants with an opportunity to demonstrate creativity, coordination, and excellence in yogic performance.
Winners were honoured with trophies and merit certificates in recognition of their outstanding achievements. The top performers in the Champion Category advanced to the prestigious Champion of Champions Round, adding a competitive edge to the event. A Best Teacher Award was also presented to recognize the dedication and contributions of yoga instructors and coaches who have played a significant role in nurturing young talent and promoting yogic education.
The competition served as an excellent platform for participants to display their skills, foster sportsmanship, and deepen their understanding of yoga as a way of life. The event successfully promoted the message of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and reinforced the importance of regular yoga practice in achieving holistic health and well-being.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi Velusamy, Principal, MCYST, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Management, Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Registrar of MAHER for their valuable support and encouragement in successfully organizing the event. She also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, staff, student volunteers, judges, and participants whose contributions ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
The 3rd State-Level Yogasana Competition 2026 concluded on a high note, celebrating the spirit of yoga, healthy ageing, and excellence while inspiring participants to continue their journey towards holistic wellness through the practice of yoga.
