Meenakshi College of Nursing Celebrates National Librarians’ Day 2026

Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) observed National Librarians’ Day on 12th August 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The programme was organized by the Library Committee, MCON, to highlight the enduring importance of libraries in academic and professional development.

The celebration commenced with the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu rendered by the MCON Choir, followed by the Welcome Address. Prof. Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, delivered the keynote address and emphasized the vital role of libraries, reading habits, and knowledge resources in fostering academic growth and professional development.

A special speech on the remarkable contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to Library Science was delivered by Ms. Shylaja, III Year student. Faculty members and students paid tribute to Dr. Ranganathan and reflected on his significant contributions to the growth of library science and librarianship in India.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem rendered by the MCON Choir. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of libraries in promoting knowledge, lifelong learning, research, and academic excellence.
