The Department of Commerce, Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), MAHER, organized an awareness programme on “Cyber Fraud Suraksha” for first-year students on 27th August 2026. The programme aimed to sensitize students to the growing risks of cyber fraud and promote safe, responsible, and vigilant digital practices.
The programme featured Mrs. Narmatha Parthiban, Vice President, HDFC Bank, and Mr. Manoj Rajagopalan as guest speakers. They provided valuable insights into various forms of cyber fraud and highlighted essential precautions to be followed while using digital banking services and online platforms.
The speakers explained common cyber threats, including phishing, fraudulent calls and messages, fake links, unauthorized transactions, identity theft, and other online scams. Students were advised never to share sensitive information such as OTP, PIN, passwords, CVV, or banking details with others. The importance of verifying suspicious messages, links, and phone calls before responding was also emphasized.
The session was informative and interactive, enabling students to better understand cybersecurity and the importance of protecting personal and financial information in their daily digital activities. The programme encouraged students to remain alert and adopt responsible online practices to safeguard themselves against cybercriminals.
The programme concluded with the message “Think Before You Click”, encouraging students to report suspicious or fraudulent activities promptly through the appropriate banking and cybercrime authorities. The initiative equipped students with practical knowledge to make safer and more informed choices in the digital environment.
