In commemoration of World AIDS Day, MAHER Advanced Research Centre for Health Sciences (MARCH) organized guest lecture On “Current HIV Updates” on 28.11.2023 at Auditorium, MAHER. The resource persons of this workshop were Mrs.I.T.Shridevi, ICTC – Counsellor, Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, Chennai and Mrs.Vanmathi, ICTC – Counsellor, MMDA Urban primary Health Centre, Chennai.
The lecture was attended by 162 participants from the Departments of Research, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy.
Guest Speakers Mrs.I.T.Shridevi and Mrs.R.Vanmathi gave a quick introduction to HIV, and then covered its Invention, mode of transmission, prevention, and awareness. They also provided a brief training on increase youth awareness of STIs, HIV/AIDS, and related issues by dispelling myths and providing sufficient, accurate information. They also encouraged young people to take an active role in reducing stigma and discrimination against individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
