The NSS team of Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS) participated in a Passing Out Parade (POP) held at St. Thomas Mount on 1 September 2026, from 5.00 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. The visit provided 35 NSS student volunteers from Shift I and Shift II with an opportunity to witness the discipline, dedication, and ceremonial precision of military training.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Balasubramaniyam, Sports Director; Dr. C. Umarani, NSS Coordinator; and Mrs. Samundeeswari, NSS Programme Officer. The volunteers were deeply impressed by the systematic conduct of the parade and the high standards of discipline, coordination, commitment, and dedication demonstrated throughout the event.
As part of the visit, a Military Officer interacted with the students and provided valuable insights into the procedures, eligibility, and career opportunities available for joining the Indian Army. The interaction proved to be both informative and motivating, giving students a better understanding of military service and the opportunities it offers.
The session particularly inspired Mr. Rufus, a Visual Communication student, who actively participated in the interaction, raised several questions, and expressed a strong interest in pursuing a career in the Indian Army. His enthusiasm reflected the impact of the interaction in encouraging students to explore opportunities for serving the nation.
The visit proved to be an inspiring and memorable experience, enabling students to gain first hand exposure to the values of discipline, dedication, patriotism, leadership, teamwork, and service to the nation.
