Meenakshi College of Pharmacy (MCOP) organised DEEKSHARAMBH 2026, the inauguration of the B.Pharm Programme for the 2026–2027 batch, on 31 August 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at the Seminar Hall, Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, Thandalam. The programme marked the formal beginning of an exciting academic journey for the newly admitted B.Pharm students.
The ceremony commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Professor Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, delivered the Welcome Address and warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and students. She emphasised the importance of approaching the B.Pharm journey with dedication, discipline, curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Professor K. K. Rajasekhar, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, MCOP, introduced the Chief Guest, Thiru Sanjay Dasmohapatra, Chief Operating Officer, Medopharm Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, and highlighted his professional contributions to the pharmaceutical sector.
Addressing the newly admitted students, the Chief Guest shared valuable insights into the pharmaceutical industry, career opportunities, professional skills, and the evolving role of pharmacists. He encouraged students to develop strong technical knowledge, effective communication skills, professional ethics, and a research-oriented mindset. His interaction offered students practical perspectives on industry expectations and inspired them to pursue their academic journey with confidence and purpose.
An engaging presentation titled “Glimpses of College Activities” was presented by II and III Year B.Pharm students, showcasing academic, co-curricular, extracurricular, research, outreach, and student-development activities. The presentation introduced the newcomers to the diverse learning experiences and opportunities available during their course of study.
The programme also featured the honouring of meritorious students for their outstanding academic achievements. Professor Dr. S. Dhanalakshmi, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacognosy, presented the achievers, whose accomplishments served as an inspiration for their peers to pursue academic excellence.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Professor Dr. L. Karpagavalli, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutics, MCOP, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, university officials, Chief Guest, Principal, faculty members, students, and parents for their presence and support. The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful inauguration of the new B.Pharm batch.
The inaugural programme set an inspiring tone for the students’ academic journey, encouraging them to pursue knowledge, professional competence, ethical practice, and excellence in the field of pharmacy.
