Meenakshi College of Nursing Conducts Career Guidance Programme for School Students

Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), MAHER, successfully conducted a Career Guidance Programme for Higher Secondary students across three private schools and two government schools under the guidance of the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council. The initiative aimed to create awareness about nursing education, career opportunities, and higher education pathways, helping students make informed decisions about their future.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. J. Anitha, who also delivered an informative session on “Choose Nursing.” She highlighted the scope of the nursing profession, career prospects, professional responsibilities, and the vital role nurses play in the healthcare system. The interactive session encouraged students to explore nursing as a rewarding and service-oriented career.

As part of the programme, informative pamphlets on nursing education and career opportunities were distributed to all participants. Students were also provided with survey questionnaires to assess their perception of nursing as a profession and their interest in pursuing a career in nursing. The responses collected will help understand students’ career preferences and awareness levels.

A total of 219 Higher Secondary students benefited from the programme. The participants appreciated the interactive nature of the session, actively engaged in discussions, and gained valuable insights into nursing education and career planning.The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks. It served as a meaningful initiative in guiding students towards informed academic and career choices while promoting awareness of the nursing profession as a fulfilling and impactful career.
