Meenakshi College of Pharmacy Hosts Seminar on Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurship

Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, MAHER, organized an insightful seminar on “Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurship: From Ideas to Enterprise” on 10th July 2026 at its Thandalam campus. The programme was designed to inspire students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector and transform innovative ideas into successful healthcare ventures.

The programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, Meenakshi College of Pharmacy, who emphasized the growing importance of entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership in the evolving pharmaceutical industry. Prof. Dr. L. Karpagavalli, Head, Department of Pharmaceutics, introduced the Chief Guest, Er. K. Shree Jayaram, Director, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), MAHER, who was felicitated by Prof. Dr. K. K. Rajasekhar, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Delivering the keynote address, Er. K. Shree Jayaram provided valuable insights into building successful pharmaceutical enterprises, highlighting the journey from idea generation and product development to commercialization. He discussed essential aspects such as innovation, intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance, business model development, market analysis, funding opportunities, start-up ecosystems, and government support schemes. Through real-world examples and entrepreneurial success stories, he encouraged students to embrace innovation and pursue careers as healthcare entrepreneurs.

An engaging interactive session followed, during which students actively raised questions on entrepreneurship, start-up funding, incubation support, and career prospects in the pharmaceutical industry. The Chief Guest addressed each query with practical guidance and later interacted individually with students, encouraging their innovative ideas and offering constructive suggestions for refinement. During the post-lunch session, he also held a one-to-one interaction with faculty members, sharing insights on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in academic and research environments.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. A. Anish Kumar, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacology, followed by the National Anthem.

The seminar served as an inspiring platform that encouraged innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and the translation of scientific knowledge into impactful healthcare solutions.
