National Conference on “Artificial Intelligence in Nursing Research” Hosted by MCON

Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, successfully organized a National Conference on “Artificial Intelligence in Nursing Research” on April 30th, 2025. The event was accredited with eight credit hours by the Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council, Chennai, and saw enthusiastic participation from across the country. A total of 333 delegates,including 119 faculty members and staff nurses, and 214 students from various institutions, hospitals, and organizations registered for the conference.

The inauguration ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilaku, followed by the keynote address delivered by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal of Meenakshi College of Nursing, who also unfolded the conference theme. Dr. V. Sureka Varalakshmi, Registrar, MAHER, delivered the special address, while the chief guest, Dr. Malliga, Principal of Indirani College of Nursing, Puducherry, addressed the gathering and emphasized the significance of AI in modern nursing research.

The academic sessions featured eight expert resource persons, including two from outside Tamil Nadu, who presented on a range of topics. Dr. J. Jaslina Gnanarani from Apollo College of Nursing opened the sessions with a talk on the history of AI and technology, followed by Prof. P. Jemima Jayakumari of Meenakshi College of Nursing, who spoke on the domains and applications of AI. Other sessions included insights into AI in healthcare and research by Dr. B. Jayabharathi; AI-powered research tools by Dr. Malliga M.; ethics and AI in nursing research by Dr. Raghavendran; practical implications of AI by Mr. M. Melvin David; evidence-based AI technologies by Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi; and a concluding session on future prospects and challenges by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj.

The conference featured 35 paper presentations, out of which four were recognized with Best Paper Presentation Awards. Additionally, nine posters were presented, with three receiving Best Poster Presentation Awards. The valedictory session held at 5:30 p.m. included feedback by Ms. Saranya P., Associate Professor at Madha College of Nursing, and the conference report was presented by Dr. B. Jayabharathi, Vice Principal and Organizing Secretary. Certificates and awards were distributed by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj. The event concluded with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, marking the conference as a significant step toward integrating artificial intelligence into the future of nursing research.
