A Two-Day Commemoration of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s Birth Anniversary

In honor of National Librarian’s Day and the birth anniversary of the esteemed National Professor and Padmashri awardee, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, a two-day program was held on the 8th and 9th of August 2024. The event included Book exhibition, Quiz program, and Seminars for Students and staff’s.

Day 1 (08.08.2024):
Book Exhibition:

A book stall was organized on the 8th and 9th of August in front of the Auditorium from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, offering a wide range of books on Humanities and Science, Yoga Science, Competitive Exams, and Research at discounted prices. The exhibition attracted active participation from both students and faculty.

Quiz Program:

In celebration of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s birthday, a quiz program was conducted for Yoga Science students, with prizes awarded to the winners. The event served as a fitting tribute to Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s legacy, highlighting the critical role of libraries in academic and professional development.

Seminar:

On 09.08.2024,, the event titled “How to Write and Publish a Research Paper” was held at FYST from 10.30am to 12.30 pm. The session featured Dr. Ramesh, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Meenakshi College of Engineering, Chennai, and Dr. P. Sagayaraj, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences at MAHER, as resource persons. The event covered key topics such as the structure and components of research articles, the different types of plagiarism and how to avoid them, strategies for selecting the right journals, and the steps involved in the publication process. Dr. Ramesh provided valuable insights into effective writing techniques and the importance of understanding the target audience, while Dr. Sagayaraj emphasized ethical writing practices and the implications of plagiarism. The session was well-received, equipping participants with practical knowledge to enhance their research writing and publication skills.
