The Faculty of Physiotherapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), conducted a successful community physiotherapy camp on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Koyambedu Flower Market, Chennai. Organized in collaboration with the Chennai Flower Retail Market Association, the camp aimed to offer essential physiotherapy services and raise awareness on health and preventive care.

Led by Dr. Sugasri Sureshkumar, Head (I/C) of Neurology, along with faculty members and postgraduate students, the camp provided consultations and treatments for over 300 individuals. Common conditions addressed included stroke, spinal cord injuries, diabetic neuropathy, cerebral palsy, head injury, arthritis, and musculoskeletal pains.

Patients were also educated on the importance of posture, exercise, and self-care, with many referred to the MAHER OPD for free follow-up services.

The objective of bringing physiotherapy expertise directly to the community was emphasized by the Principal of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, Mr. R. Parthasarathy. It was stated that through such initiatives, the quality of life for the urban population could be improved and the burden on the healthcare system significantly reduced.

This outreach reflects MAHER’s continued commitment to community health, offering both clinical care and public education to empower individuals and promote wellness.
