Skill Development Program on Personality Development Held at Faculty of Occupational Therapy, MAHER

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Faculty of Occupational Therapy (FOT), MAHER, in collaboration with the Placement Cell, MAHER, successfully initiated and organized a Skill Development Program on Personality Development. The inaugural session of this program was held on May 12, 2025, and marked a significant step towards preparing students for their future roles as healthcare professionals.

The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Deepa Sundareswaran, Principal, Faculty of Occupational Therapy. Dr. K.Anita, Placement Coordinator, MAHER, delivered the special address, highlighting the importance of soft skills and personal development in enhancing employability and professional success.

The chief guest, Ms. Sumathy Srinivasan, a distinguished Corporate Trainer, HR Professional, and Certified Purpose Coach, was felicitated by Prof. Deepa Sundareswaran. The inaugural session was attended by undergraduate students (1st and 2nd year BOT), who actively engaged in the learning experience.

The introductory session was jointly conducted by Ms. Sumathy Srinivasan and Dr. Damodaran, Professor of Psychology. The session focused on fostering self-awareness, professionalism, and essential personality traits vital for aspiring Occupational Therapists. Key themes included analyzing role models, setting personal and professional goals, and understanding the foundations of personality development.

The interactive nature of the session encouraged enthusiastic participation from the students through discussions and activities, setting a strong tone for the sessions to follow.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Aarthi A, Assistant Professor, FOT, followed by the National Anthem.

This initiative underscores the importance of integrating skill development and personality enhancement into professional education, fostering well-rounded and career-ready graduates.
