The Faculty of Occupational Therapy MAHER organized “Thrive Together” an event to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2024 on 10/10/2024. The theme for the World Mental Health Day 2024 is “Its time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace”. 164 students and 6 faculties attended the programme. The programme was inaugurated with a shloka to mark a divine beginning, followed by Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. Prof. Deepa Sundareswaran, Principal, FOT delivered the welcome address. Dr. Arunagirinathan, Dean Research, MAHER and Dr. Pushpanagini, Director Online Education, MAHER addressed the gathering with their perspectives on mental health.The chief guest for the event, Dr. Shivaprakash Srinivasan, Head-Clinical services and training, Youth Mental Health, Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), Chennai gave an insightful talk on the importance of self love, self care and work-life balance. He also emphasized on the importance of preparedness for work, work skills, goal setting and ways to combat stress. A video themed ‘Voices for Mental health’ that captured opinions, views and importance of mental health by various faculty and staff of MAHER was displayed during the celebration. Ms. Kruthika, 3rd Year BOT student recited a Tamil poem about Mental health. The students of BOT performed a mime and prepared a short film to portray the importance of maintaining one’s mental health.
The prizes for the Essay writing and Slogan Writing competition were distributed by the chief guest. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Hasti Divecha, Assistant Professor, FOT and National Anthem.
