The Department of Anaesthesiology, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute hosted the World Anaesthesia Day celebration on 23.10.2024. The event was a significant gathering of healthcare professionals, students, and faculty members to commemorate the contributions of anaesthesiology to patient care. The program commenced with a traditional Tamil Thaai Vazhthu and the lighting of a Kuthuvilakku. Prof. Dr. U.G. Thirumaran, Professor and HOD of the Department of Anaesthesiology, delivered the welcome address. Dr. K.V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCH&RI delivered the inaugural address. Prof.Dr.C.G.Raghuram, Anaesthesiology, Apollo Medical College, Chittoor, graced the occasion as the chief guest and gave a lecture talk on the topic Basics of Respiratory Care in Ventilated Patients. The importance of mental and physical health for healthcare professionals was discussed by Dr.Ardhanaari, Professor, Psychiatry. A session on Adult Medical Emergencies by Prof.Dr.U.G. Thirumaran, Professor&HOD, Anaesthesiology, this session focused on the management of critical medical emergencies in adults. A historical overview of the development of anaesthesiology was presented by Dr.Gokulakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Anaesthesiology. A quiz competition was held to test the knowledge of participants and foster a competitive and interactive atmosphere. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.Surya Teja, Senior Resident, Anaesthesiology.
