Meenakshi College of Pharmacy (MCOP) celebrated International Day of Yoga 2026 on 20th June 2026 from 9.00 AM to 10.00 AM at the MCOP Seminar Hall. The programme was organized to create awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being and to encourage participants to adopt yoga as a part of their daily lifestyle.
The event witnessed active participation from 38 students and 15 faculty members. The yoga session was conducted by Mr. Sai, a Yoga student from MAHER, who guided the participants through various yoga practices and highlighted the benefits of regular yoga for overall health and wellness.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, MCOP, who emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into everyday life to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle. She encouraged students and faculty members to embrace yoga as an effective means of promoting physical fitness, mental clarity, and stress management.
Following the welcome address, the yoga session began with demonstrations and practice of various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Under the guidance of the resource person, participants actively engaged in the session and gained practical knowledge of yoga practices that can contribute to improved health and well-being.
The session was highly interactive and beneficial, enabling participants to understand the importance of regular yoga practice in enhancing flexibility, concentration, emotional balance, and overall quality of life. Feedback collected from students and faculty members reflected their appreciation for the informative and engaging nature of the programme and the positive impact of the session.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Sreenath, PRO and Administrative Officer, who expressed gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the event a success.
The celebration successfully promoted awareness about the benefits of yoga and reinforced the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices for physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic development.
