Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), MAHER, organized an official India Book of Records attempt on 19th June 2026 at the MAHER Auditorium as part of the celebrations of International Day of Yoga 2026. The event showcased the spirit of dedication, discipline, and excellence fostered through the practice of yoga.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, MCYST, who highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting holistic health and personal growth. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. C. Sridhar, Vice Chancellor, MAHER, who emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance. The programme was graced by Prof. Dr. C. Krithika, Pro Vice-Chancellor, MAHER; Dr. V. Sureka, Registrar, MAHER; faculty members, students, and invited guests.
The highlight of the event was the official India Book of Records attempt by Ms. Nehaa Jasmin P. A., III Year B.Sc. Yoga student, MCYST, under the title “Maximum Yoga Asanas Performed Blindfolded Amid Fire.” Demonstrating remarkable concentration, courage, and yogic mastery, she successfully performed 111 yoga asanas in two minutes while blindfolded, earning appreciation from the audience and dignitaries.
The record attempt was adjudicated by Mr. Vivek R. Nair, India Book of Records, who witnessed the performance, addressed the gathering, and formally felicitated the record attempter for her exceptional achievement.
As part of the celebrations, prizes were also distributed to the winners of Yoga Fest 2026, which featured competitions such as Slogan Writing, Yogasana Video Contest, and Poster Making Competition. The first and second prize winners were recognized and honoured for their creativity, talent, and enthusiastic participation.
