Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), in collaboration with Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI), organized “Yoga Sangam 2026” on 19th June 2026 as part of the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga at MMCHRI, Kanchipuram. The programme was conducted under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” with the objective of promoting awareness about the importance of yoga in enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the Welcome Address and Inaugural Address, setting the tone for a meaningful celebration dedicated to health, harmony, and holistic living. The dignitaries highlighted the significance of yoga as a time-tested practice that contributes to a healthier lifestyle and supports overall well-being across all age groups.
An informative session on “Common Yoga Protocol and Benefits of Yoga” was delivered by Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, MCYST. In her address, she emphasized the transformative role of yoga in promoting healthy ageing, improving physical fitness, enhancing mental resilience, reducing stress, and preventing lifestyle-related disorders. She also explained the importance of incorporating the Common Yoga Protocol into daily routines to achieve long-term health benefits and a better quality of life.
The programme served as an effective platform to create awareness about the therapeutic and preventive benefits of yoga. Participants gained valuable insights into how regular yoga practice can contribute to maintaining physical vitality, emotional balance, and mental clarity throughout life.
The celebration successfully reinforced the message of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and inspired participants to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily lives. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement and contribution to the success of Yoga Sangam 2026.
