As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy (MCOT), MAHER, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Seminar on 24th June 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting healthy, informed lifestyle choices.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. Dr. Deepa Sundareswaran, Principal, Meenakshi College of Occupational Therapy, and University Nodal Officer for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, who emphasized the importance of preventive education and collective efforts in building a drug-free society.
The resource person for the seminar was Dr. Vinon Vanduyn, renowned Indian parapsychologist, alchemist, counselling psychologist, and relationship psychologist. Through an engaging and interactive session, he highlighted the physical, psychological, social, and occupational consequences of drug abuse. He also emphasized the importance of prevention, early identification, counselling, rehabilitation, and informed decision-making in addressing substance abuse among young people.
Students and faculty members actively participated in the seminar, making the session highly interactive through discussions and thought-provoking exchanges with the speaker. The programme provided valuable insights into the importance of mental well-being, healthy lifestyle choices, and the role of individuals in preventing drug abuse.
The seminar concluded successfully, reinforcing the message of prevention, awareness, and social responsibility while encouraging participants to become ambassadors for a healthy, safe, and drug-free society.
