The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Meenakshi Ammal dental college, observed the 1st week of November as Cancer Awareness week and in connection conducted a variety of audiovisual awareness programs for the visiting patients. This year screening of short films both in English and Tamil were done. In addition the ill effects of tobacco to the non-teaching staff were emphasized. There were interactive sessions with patients and their myths and doubts were cleared. Informative placards were put up at strategic points within the campus. On the concluding day rally to create an awareness among our neighborhood was initiated.
