Prof. Dr. Sugasri Sureshkumar, Head, Department of Physiotherapy in Neuroscience, Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy, MAHER, served as the Resource Person at a patient awareness programme organized by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), Chennai Chapter, on 25th July 2026 at YWCA, Chennai.
The programme, held under the theme “Healthy Aging with MS: Physio Edition,” featured an expert talk on “Energy Conservation for Fatigue Management.” During the session, Prof. Dr. Sugasri Sureshkumar explained the classification and mechanisms of fatigue in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis and discussed evidence-based physiotherapy strategies for effective fatigue management. Special emphasis was placed on energy conservation techniques, coping strategies for cognitive fatigue, and interventions aimed at improving functional independence and quality of life.
The programme witnessed the participation of nearly 50 individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis, who actively engaged in the interactive session by sharing their experiences and seeking practical guidance for managing daily challenges. The discussion encouraged participants to adopt positive coping strategies and remain optimistic while effectively managing their condition.
The session served as a valuable platform for patient education, highlighting the vital role of physiotherapy in enhancing functional ability, promoting healthy ageing, and improving the overall well-being of individuals with Multiple Sclerosis.
