The Department of Research, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Chennai has organized a two days hands-on workshop on “Immunohistochemistry” on 05.10.2023 and 06.10.2023 at Central Research Laboratory. The resource persons of this workshop are 1) Dr.R.Mathangi, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Shree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Chennai and 2) Dr.Vidya Rani, Reader, Department of Oral Pathology, Shree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. Dr.V.Sureka, Dean Research; Dr.D.Nalini, Associate Professor; Dr.D.Nallusamy, Assistant Professor and Dr.S.Sivamalar, Assistant Professor from Department of Research were the members of the organizing committee. The immunohistochemistry (IHC) kit for this workshop has been sponsored by the PathnSitu Diagnostics, Hyderabad. This workshop has been co-organized by Accuscope Microscopes, USA.
Totally, 20 participants registered for the workshop. This includes participants from Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital and Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research. The registration fee for this workshop is Rs.750/- which includes hands-on training, lunch, tea and refreshments for two days. Totally, a sum of Rs.15,000/- has been collected as registration fees. The total expense for this workshop is Rs.17,674/-.
During the first day of the workshop, Dr.R.Mathangi gave a brief presentation on the basics, principles, protocols and applications of the IHC technique. The participants were provided with tissue sections and then they underwent a step by step hands-on training on IHC technique. During the second day, the participants completed the IHC protocol and the DPX mounted slides were then visualized under the bright field microscope. Dr.Vidya Rani provided insights to the participants regarding IHC image interpretation and troubleshooting. The workshop was very helpful and informative to the participants and enabled them to carry out IHC related studies in their research work. The Vice Chancellor, MAHER graciously honored the resource persons and the organizing secretaries and the participants were given their participation certificates. The workshop got over by 4:30pm on 06.10.2023.
