The Department of General Medicine, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) organized a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Medicine Update – Poisoning & Toxicology” on 31st July 2026 at the New CME Hall. The programme was designed to provide healthcare professionals with the latest evidence-based updates on the diagnosis and management of toxicological emergencies.
The CME featured an esteemed panel of external experts, including Dr. M. Rangaswami (Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai), Dr. S. Appandraj (Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr. S. Jennie and Dr. Aneesh Basheer (SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre), Dr. Sivakumar (Arunai Medical College and Retired Professor of Geriatrics, MMC & RGGH), and Dr. Bharath Kumar M.N. (Consultant Physician, Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Bengaluru). The resource persons delivered comprehensive lectures covering various aspects of poisoning and toxicology, sharing current clinical practices and evidence-based approaches to patient management.
The scientific sessions fostered active participation through interactive discussions and case-based learning, enabling attendees to enhance their understanding of toxicological emergencies and strengthen their clinical decision-making skills.
The programme was attended by faculty members, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students, providing a valuable platform for academic enrichment and professional development.
