An Awareness Program on “Cervical Cancer”

The Cervical Cancer Awareness Program was organized by the MAHER Advanced Research Centre for Health Sciences, K.K.Nagar in collaboration with Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Enathur on March 7, 2024. The staff and students attended the program held in the college auditorium. The event was organized with the primary objective of creating awareness, treatment and prevention of cervical cancer and ensuring the well-being of our Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff and Students. Nearly 200 students and staff attended the Program. A team of well qualified Gynaecologists and support staff from Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research institute, Enathur conducted the program. The presentation explained the role of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in causing cervical cancer.The common signs and symptoms of cervical cancer were discussed, along with the importance of early detection. The importance of regular PAP smears and HPV testing for early detection and use of vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer was emphasized.
