MMCHRI Hosts ANATSYM 2026 on “Larynx 360: From Dissection Hall to Endoscopic Suite”

The Department of Anatomy, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI), successfully organized ANATSYM 2026, a two-day academic event themed “Larynx 360: From Dissection Hall to Endoscopic Suite”, on 11th and 12th June 2026 at the Lister Lecture Hall, MMCHRI. The programme aimed to enhance the understanding of laryngeal anatomy and its clinical applications among undergraduate students and healthcare professionals.

The first day of the event featured a series of student-centered competitions, including the Working Model Competition, Clinical Condition Game, and Organ Costume Designing Competition. These activities encouraged creativity, teamwork, and the application of anatomical concepts in an engaging and interactive manner.

The second day comprised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme that commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. Karthick, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, MMCHRI, followed by the inaugural address delivered by Prof. Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI.

The scientific sessions covered various aspects of laryngeal anatomy and its clinical relevance. Dr. S. Karthick presented a session on “Functional Anatomy of Larynx – Basics,” while the keynote lecture, “Larynx 360: From Dissection Hall to Endoscopic Suite,” was delivered by Dr. N. Pratheepasivasankari, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Red Hills. The session provided valuable insights into the integration of anatomical knowledge with contemporary clinical practice.

Further sessions included “Diagnostic and Endoscopic Applications of Larynx” by Dr. Parameshwaran, Assistant Professor, Department of ENT, MMCHRI, and “Radiology of Larynx” by Dr. A. Daniel Braxton, Assistant Professor, Department of Radio-Diagnosis, MMCHRI, highlighting the multidisciplinary approach to laryngeal assessment and management.

A major highlight of the programme was the interactive panel discussion moderated by Dr. N. Pratheepasivasankari. The panel comprised Dr. A. Gnanavel, Professor, Department of ENT, MMCHRI; Dr. A. Thamaraiselvi, Professor, Department of Anatomy, MMCHRI; and Dr. S. Saravana Kumar, Professor, Department of Radio-Diagnosis, MMCHRI, who shared their expertise and engaged participants in discussions on the clinical significance of laryngeal anatomy.

The programme offered participants valuable exposure to the evolving applications of anatomy in modern healthcare while fostering critical thinking and clinical understanding.
